Football rules question of the week

Team A has the ball 2nd and 10 from the B-30. A9 drops back to pass and throws it towards the endzone. B27 intercepts the pass, and has clear possession of the ball, at the B-2 and his momentum carries him into the endzone where he is down.

Football Fitness: Tips and Exercises

It’s never too early to start getting in shape for the season. As fitness for life is always a goal for every day health reasons, some of us may need to do a little extra preparation for the season. Maybe starting with some light jogs around the neighborhood and maybe even some sprints. You never know when you’ll have a 70-yard run and have a play at the goal line you need to see. Some of these 7th graders are FAST! Let alone varsity.

It is always good to know your limits and not get hurt out on the field. Exercising at home may be able to help you test your limits.

Stay hydrated! August and September can be hot! Make sure to drink water the whole week before a game. If you have to hydrate the day of, it may be too late. Keep an eye on players safety and hydration as well. Lot of players go down with cramps and will throw up early in the season. It is ok to take an official timeout during the game so us and both teams can stay hydrated. This is good to communicate with coaches pre-game that there will be a few extra timeouts given per quarter or maybe that the timeouts and change of possessions time will be extended.

Answers to Rules Question

8-5-1-a-exception:  It is not a safety if a player between their own team’s five-yard line and goal line: RULE 8 / Scoring FR-95 (a) intercepts a pass or fumble; or recovers an opponent’s fumble or backward pass; or catches or recovers an opponent’s kick; and (b) the player’s original momentum carries that player into their own end zone; and (c) the ball remains behind that team’s goal line and is declared dead in that team’s possession there. This includes a fumble that goes from the end zone into the field of play and out of bounds (Rule 7-2-4-b-1). If conditions (a)-(c) are satisfied above, the ball belongs to this player’s team at the spot where that player gained possession.

Answer: Team B's ball 1st and 10 from the B-2.
